The third time is not the charm for the Regional Fire Authority.
The third time is not the charm for the Regional Fire Authority. As of the counts last night, Proposition 1 for a Regional Fire Authority that would combine the Aberdeen, Cosmopolis and Hoquiam fire departments was failing in all three cities. Based on last night’s ballots, over 58 percent of voters are opposed to forming the RFA. This is the third time the proposed regional fire authority has failed. The way the measure was written in the past, it needed 60 percent support to take effect. However this time, it only needs a simple majority to take effect. More votes will be counted until the results are certified on May 5th. Prop 1 was the only item on yesterday’s special election ballot.
