The Westport City Council is looking at spending just over $4 million to buy the three-story building that the city signed a lease agreement on just one year ago. The Daily World reports the city is looking at the 22,000 square foot space as a solution to put a council chambers, municipal court, and city admin officers with room to grow. The plan would be to secure a low interest government loan for 40 years, with city leaders saying there is enough money in the general funs to cover the mortgage and not have to give up services or raise taxes. The city attorney says they must decide to purchase, renew a lease or pass altogether by the end of April.
