Scammers are using artificial intelligence to create messages that mimic the voices of PUD staff.

For several years, scammers have been contacting Grays Harbor PUD customers, threatening to shutoff power if payment is not made on accounts they claim are overdue. Now, in addition to manipulating phone numbers to make calls appear as if they're from the PUD, scammers are using artificial intelligence to create messages that mimic the voices of PUD staff. If you get any call demanding immediate payment or your service will be cut off, PUD officials say check your account or call customer service directly before sending any money.
