With students returning to the classroom today, Aberdeen police want to remind you that school zones will again be active throughout the community. Per a message on social media, authorities say the speed limit in school zones is 20-mph. Officers will be monitoring vehicle traffic through school zones ensuring the safety of the children. The fines for speeding in a school zone are doubled and cannot be reduced or waived. Officers ask that you do your part to make sure students get to and from school safe every day by driving at the posted speed limit.
