Phone Scam Migrating To Pacific County

The scam phone call that looks like it’s coming from the sheriff’s department.

The Pacific County Sheriff’s office is alerting the community to a scam phone call that looks like it’s coming from the sheriff’s department. Sheriff’s investigators say not only does the scammer present themselves as being with the sheriff’s department, but the caller i.d. makes it look like the call is coming from the sheriff’s office. If you get a call like this, the sheriff’s office says get a badge number and call back the person at one of the non-emergency phone numbers listed for the sheriff’s department on their official website .
