A tense scene unfolded in Chinook Sunday after deputies discovered what looked like a homemade pipe bomb lying along Chinook Valley Road.

A tense scene unfolded in Chinook Sunday after deputies discovered what looked like a homemade pipe bomb lying along Chinook Valley Road. The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office says the Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad confirmed the device could’ve gone off but safely removed and disposed of it. No one was hurt, and deputies say quick teamwork likely prevented a disaster. Investigators now want to hear from anyone who might know how the explosive ended up there.
