The lockdown at the South Bend School District earlier this week was planned. District officials say the lockdown and intruder drill Wednesday morning was scheduled and the South Bend Police were informed in advance. The drill was being done to test classroom procedures and communication and notification protocols. For security reasons, details of the drill are not being made public at this time.
