A dangerous standoff outside Elma ended without serious injuries Wednesday after a 13-year-old allegedly fired arrows at law enforcement officers. Grays Harbor Scanner reports the teen threatened family members, armed himself with an axe and a bow, and refused to surrender for several hours before officers used less-lethal rounds to take him into custody. He was treated for minor injuries and is expected to face multiple first-degree assault charges. Sheriff's officials say an independent investigation has been launched after one officer fired a single shot during the incident, but it did not hit the juvenile.
