After more than three decades in uniform, Hoquiam’s police chief is calling it a career. Chief Joe Strong is retiring after 31 and a half years, a run that took him from patrol officer all the way to leading the department. Along the way, he worked major cases, spent years with the drug task force, and helped shape the department’s leadership. Strong says he’s confident the team in place will keep moving things forward. His retirement closes out a long chapter of service to the Hoquiam community.
