If you were wondering why Montesano firefighters were all over town yesterday, don't worry, there wasn't an emergency. Crews spent Monday inspecting fire hydrants and local buildings, making sure hydrants are accessible and working when they're needed. Firefighters were also checking businesses for potential hazards and getting familiar with buildings they may someday have to respond to. It's routine work, but the department says doing it now can save valuable time when a real emergency happens.
