It’s unclear if city leaders will go back to their list of candidates that have already applied or start the search for a new fire chief from scratch.
The Aberdeen Fire Department is without a permanent chief. With less than a week before he was scheduled to begin, John Clark, who had been selected to lead the Aberdeen Fire Department starting August 1st has sent a letter to the city saying he will not be taking the job after all. Clark, who is currently the chief of North Whidbey Fire and Rescue will stay on in that position. Clark was chosen from a candidate pool to be the new head of the department after Chief Tom Hubbard retired. Now it’s unclear if city leaders will go back to their list of candidates that have already applied or start the search for a new fire chief from scratch.
