The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office uses drone technology to locate stranded boaters. According to reports, dispatch got a call Sunday night just before 9:30pm about 2 people stuck in a boat “ on the Palix”. Their exact location was unknown. To make matters worse, the victim’s cell phone lost power and couldn’t be traced. Deputies deployed a drone with a spotlight and a thermal camera from the department of fish and wildlife and were able to find and tow back the stranded boaters.
